Due to a complete reconfiguration of my web server, YMMV.

Living My Life Faster at Laurence Miller Gallery

The Daily Photo Project video will be showing as a part of a group exhibition Past (Present) Future at Laurence Miller Gallery (20 West 57th St, NY). Check it out at a size slightly more impressive than the online version. The show runs from July 9th through August 16th. Unfortunately, there is no reception.

Yahoo! Swag

Apparently Living My Life Faster was up for a Yahoo! Veddy Award in the Best Documentary category. The down side is that I lost out to the “Free Hugs Campaign”. The up side is that I received this kick-ass swag in the mail today.

LA Times Article

Here’s another article regarding the Daily Photo Project: A fast-forward trip through time’s passage from the Los Angeles Times (free registration gets you humongous advertisements!). Though I will point out that the “large and eclectic archive of daily photo projects” is actually at http://www.c71123.com/daily_photo/links.php.

CNN Special: Chasing Life

CNN.com Screenshot

The Daily Photo Project video will be shown as part of CNN Health’s special report Chasing Life with Dr. Sanjay Gupta starting on April 14th at 8pm Eastern. I’m assuming it’ll play about as much of a role as it does in the promo video at the top of the Chasing Life web page. So, don’t watch it just for me. Watch it cause it’ll tell you how to live to 100. Looks like it will also feature Ahree’s video.

NY Times Article & Scion Advert

The Daily Photo Project and the list of related photo projects was mentioned in yesterday’s NY Times article (sorry, free registration required by NY Times). It was mainly about Noah Kalina and the phenomenon surrounding his ‘Everyday’ video.

On that note, Noah also sent me a link to Scion’s 3 Years Advert created by LA-based motion graphics firm, Buck. It’s obviously playing off of Ahree Lee’s ‘Me’ video and is a little disturbing. It’s not disturbing because it’s a “rip-off” but because it plays with the idea that someone loves her car so much that she wills her head to become square. That’s sick.

Also, someone e-mailed me and said that there is a Dunkin Donuts advert out there in a similar vein. If you have a link for it… make a comment to this post! I’d be interested to see it.

First 2007 Photos

For the first time this year (finally!) I added new photos to the Daily Photo Project. All of January and February are there, ending with the first image of my new spectacles. I’m sure someone will comment that they hate/love them, so I’ll just upfront say that I think they’re pretty great in real life.

In other news… I will be adding a couple new projects this weekend. I just need to get some decent documentation

Oh, and the video “Living My Life Faster” of the daily photos will be featured in an exhibition of graduate student work at Art Chicago over the weekend of April 26-29. I’ll even be in attendance, if you’re in the Chicago area and want to grab a beer. It’s going to be just a week after the grad show exhibition opens, and a week before our thesis is due, so I should be in rare form at that time. FYI.

Apple Web Designers: Daily Photo Project Fans?

Screenshot of Apple's iPhoto photocasting page

Okay, so I was reading a story about Personal Bookprinting today and decided to click through to Apple’s iPhoto page to see what it had to say. I also wanted to see if photocasting was limited to .Mac accounts, so I went to the Photocasting page to check it out. I was casually skimming the page when I saw the image of the iPhoto sidebar. I saw my name and thought it was a nice treat. Then I noticed that the next item in the list was “A Photo a Day…”! Could it merely be a coincidence that I, Jonathan, happen to have a project of Daily Photos?!? I’d much rather think that the designers put a little bit of an Easter Egg style text in there. Here’s to hoping!

I’d e-mail them, but then the dream may end up being crushed. I’ll keep it to myself and this blog…

Made it to the front page of Yahoo! for a few hours. The Yahoo! version of “Living My Life Faster”. My parents are so proud.

Guess it can only go down from here…

Daily Photo Video - 3 formats

Living My Life Faster - 8 years of JK’s Daily Photo Project on Vimeo

I posted 3 versions of the Daily Photo Project video last night. Tell all your friends. Then tell them to make fun of me…

[update due to being featured on Yahoo!'s The 9] I am still taking photos and will probably update the video every year. I made the animation in Adobe After Effects which allowed me to align the eyes with a minimal (hours vs. weeks) amount of work. And Thank You in advance for all your comments… I probably won’t have time to respond to them all, but they are much appreciated!
