I’ve been collecting envelopes, mail, and paper with one blank side since somewhere around 8th grade (with varying degrees of voracity, and the occasional trashing). It took about 7 years before I came up with the idea to fold the ‘one-sided’ papers in half and bind them to make sketchbooks. Eariler this year (what would be about 15 years), I finally came up with the idea to turn the envelopes inside-out to make pretty patterned envelopes. I like the idea that I’m exposing the security for everyone to see as well as the recycling aspect.
This is the stack so far. I ran out of tape again with about 10-15 envelopes left.
I’ll be putting together a collection of the security patterns if I get a scanner. For now, see this collection of envelope security patterns, or this photographic survey of envelope security patterns.

wow, it looks like you have quite a few patterns there! Saw your site from the webstats at my site. I have 75 unique patterns, but I’m afraid your collection may completely kick my collection’s ass. I’m working on a new site and look forward to seeing your complete collection, maybe we can join forces.
I think I counted the number of different ones after receiving this comment and it was less than 75, but I’ll be sure to send you images after a massive scanning session. Hopefully soon.
Oh my goodness! I’m doing just the same, but don’t have that many yet.
I’m an artist working on a reaserch project and I’m looking for different envelope patterns. I love your collection! Any chance you’ll sell some of them or swap some, I’m trying to get as many different patterns and colours from around the world as possible for my artwork.
