Camie: The question of inspiration is always a difficult one, as it often seemingly comes from nowhere, or just pops in the noggin walking down the street. Though, a lot of the work that I do stems from the process of taking a simple/simplistic idea and iterating it to such a degree that something unexpected emerges from the system. In this case, the "simple idea" was wind affecting a flag. My space was defined by the curator and I worked through the steps from there.

I could lie right now and tell you that I am utterly speechless, but as stated, this would be a lie. There are too many things I would like to say in response to your installation but the fact of the matter is since viewing your video my mind has begun to race at an unimaginable pace and I fear I will not be able to piece words together in a cohesive manner. So I will just say this: I was amazed with your installation. The visual effects are uncanny and amicably amorphous. However, after looking again, and connecting the installation with it's given title, I am awe struck with the concept behind this piece. I can't imagine what it would take just to visually piece this project together, but you went a step further with the title by cluing the viewer into your personal meaning of this project. It's very entertaining to dwell on the idea of Coriolis and Beaufort in a heated argument! As an end note, I'd just like to say kudos to you for the double entendre in the title. I hope that I am correct in assuming the wit used in your choice of the word "fictitious." If I am incorrect, which I somehow doubt, you should look further into Coriolis and his ties to fictitious, and I think you shall be rather amused. Keep up the beauty!!

I was just wondering who the guy is in this picture because he looks exactly like my Uncle from the back . My Uncle teaches and studies art and he dresses exactly like the guy in the photo.

This is beautiful! I wish I could see it up close and in person. I hope you saved it so it could be reinstalled in a museum some day. I love your work.

DJ: Not sure what Legos have to do with this... but thanks.

DJ: It would be less minimalist, to be sure.

Kate: Having the fans controlled by some process is something I thought of, but I created it as is to keep the project from becoming something other than a monument to simple processes. Nor did I want to make a music video.

Jonathan: This was a temporary installation for our graduate exhibition. I (with the help of Keetra, my mother and father) pulled them all out and have them in a bag in my apartment. Why? you want it installed in your house?

Maggie: Yep, that's my lettering for the word 'Wellderly'. Thanks for finding it! It's cool that you think it is embroidered, because that is one of the aesthetics I was going for. It's actually computationally derived, so I didn't have to ask my mom to do any work. :)

Michael: There certainly are millions of possibilities.

You're right, I think it's something you can only truly experience in real life. Beautiful.

Is this permanent installation? If not, what did you do with the plastic flags after?

What if you were able to control the switching and on of the fans and create different patterns (thus creating different textures), and maybe sync them with music?

I wonder what it would be like with metallic blue and silver flags that would undulate more visibly.
