I got my grid-pattern dress shirt back from my Mom. I sent it to her so she could cross-stitch the Princess from Super Marios Bros. above the right cuff. I knew I’d never make the time to do it, and well, she cross-stitches. I must say, it came out amazing! Even better than I had hoped.
Now, during the process she called me up and asked me, “Why in the world would you want a princess on the sleeve of your shirt?” A fair question, and well, it’s because I’m a huge dork. A little background:
2008 Jan 20 Update:My Mom Wins!
2007 Dec 15 Update: Help make this the “Best Geeky Craft of 2007″! Visit GeekSugar and vote for the shirt. I doubt I win anything besides international fame and fortune, so I guess it’s not that important a vote.
That’s hilarious and yes you must be a huge dork…sorry I don’t even know you but it made me laugh since I use the evolution of Mario as a way to explain the concept of pixilated images to my commuter class(I guess that makes me a bit dorky)…. do you mind if I mention your pixel shirt in my next class?
Hey! Just cause I say I’m a huge dork, doesn’t mean I want outside confirmation!
But, by all means, mention the shirt.
Sorry about the dork thing…. I’m laughing with you not at you.
I’m slowly exploring your work, ill be sure to ask some more questions later. I think I’m becoming a bit of a fan actually. Its inspiring me to organize my work a bit and put it online. Thanks!
You should have Bowser on the other sleeve
I don’t know if you’d consider this selling out or not (and if you did consider it selling out, if you would be opposed to it), but there’s big money in this idea. You could definitely sell this kind of shirt to high-end botiques and make a killing. Just throwing it out there… All the best!
& Alan Eagle & Maarten P. Kappert & Coleman: I really can’t sell this shirt nor have my mom make them to sell as it would be a gross violation of Nintendo copyrights. I’m not really into legal wrangling, so it’s going to have to remain a personal endeavor.
Hi again. Ignore my previous comment, as I have just read your comments regarding the spider shirt. Sorry for those 20 seconds of your life you spent reading my comment that you will never get back.
I Love You
that’s pretty darn amazing.
This is so awesome!!!
This is an untapped market for sure. I for one would love that embroidered on my shirt.
I don’t suppose your mum would consider going into business?????
Thats Really Nice!
Just spotted this linked on http://www.notcot.org/ I heart notcot.
Just got here from Geeksugar.
I love your Princess Peach in cross stitch ! Any way you would send me the pattern?
I’ve done a few game crosstitching myself, mostly to put on my boyfriend’s tshirts. He keeps nagging me to make more actually.

I found that stitching on a piece of aida then sew it on a tshirt means that the design lasts longer (sturdier piece of fabric you can cut out and sew on another tshirt later).
I hope you’ll make more designs your mom will be able to stitch !!!
& julia & Stephanie: Here’s the pattern that I gave to my mom. She just matched the colors as close as she could. Not sure where I got this image from, so my apologies if it is yours, I don’t mean to not credit…
That’s really cool !!
Man you did that so yu could make some nasty things with that hand while you are that soo much time in your computer , right no? lol
I wish I could ignore what you’re implying here. Unfortunately it’s rather humorous.
aww! that is GREAT! Hahha, I think you’re amazing for asking your mom to do this. That’s irresistibly geeky and cute
My grandmother made something like that for me, she cross-stiched a cushion with my pixel logo on it!

Not sure if you’re into this, but I guarantee you there’s a market for these shirts!
Just lovely, got to show this on my blog. Great job om your site, I’ll be back!
Lot of free time, isn’t it?
I hate statements like this. Spending time actively participating in the construction of one’s own environment hardly seems like a waste. Also, what’s wrong with free time? All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.
people expects you to waste your time at videogames or tv, smoking, drinking… or anything that leaves no record of how much time you “wasted”… they don’t get what “investing time” means… i embroider, weave, knit, crochet, sew, do maché, tray, carboard stuff and origami; people never gets it “you’re like a granny” they say…
Ignore them… you rock.
great idea!!!!! i love this, i’ll cross a grid-pattern shirt too
that made me happy
hahaha that’s awesome! Makes me want to get a grid-pattern dress shirt to cross stitch random mario characters onto it! I have to totally put this page onto my blog! >__
You should sell that idea to a clothing company, you could make money off it. have a clothing line, one with a jumping yoshi on the left shoulder, one with a mario peeking over the bottom of the shirt, one with a shyguy on the back…
That just rawks. I love your idea, and your mom did a fantastic job! Now I’m just jealous. I wish -I- had a pixled princess peach on my sleeve! Heh heh.
That is totally fabulous. Any chance you have the crossstich pattern?
Please – can we have the pattern?
Thank you so much, or as we say in Sweden Рtack s̴ mycket.
You are a huge dork… and it’s really sexy.
I can’t think of anything more attractive than a dude wearing a shirt with princess peach cross stitched on the sleeve. That’s not sarcasm. Srsly. This is the best shirt ever.
It’s true – geeks are hot! Your shirt turns me on a bit…
awesome work! I’d love to have something like that… I’ll try to corce my sister into doing t for me >:)
Truly inspiring indeed. I am totally going to make some money off of this. If I make enough, I’ll give you some… PEACE!
I’m still waiting for my royalty checks… and I’m sure Nintendo is as well.
word to your moms
i have given you my vote!
so cool!
Oh, that idea is so lovely!
You have nice hands and dirty shorts.
I like the idea… I wonder what else could be embroidered above a sleeve?
I love this. I want to ask my boyfriend if he’ll let me embroider Link onto one of his shirts…
jesus, you’re a genius
I say finish the skirt on the cuff….slide a mini garter on your pointer….and let your fingers do the walking…Mario meets Moulin Rouge, use your imagination.
Rumors of my death have been confirmed.
Love your site.
Love your mom! She is the kind of mom everyone should have. What do people say when you wear the shirt? Good Luck.
OFFICALLY… im a huge fan. unoffically, i’m learning to cross-stitch
