Stitched with Love, by my Mom

Princess Peach Shirt
I got my grid-pattern dress shirt back from my Mom. I sent it to her so she could cross-stitch the Princess from Super Marios Bros. above the right cuff. I knew I’d never make the time to do it, and well, she cross-stitches. I must say, it came out amazing! Even better than I had hoped.

Now, during the process she called me up and asked me, “Why in the world would you want a princess on the sleeve of your shirt?” A fair question, and well, it’s because I’m a huge dork. A little background:

  • - I’m currently really into embroidery.
  • - I spend way too much time in front of a computer
  • - I’ve always thought that the grid-pattern on my dress shirt looked like pixels
  • - I love Super Mario Bros.
  • - Lately, I’m a major queen (though many would argue this is not a recent event)

And so, I set out to make something that explored the idea of shirt as pixel screen. And what better way to do this than by creating some sort of geeky hero complex? Okay, I’m not really sure I know where I’m going with this… I wanted to do it. So, much Love to the Mom for crushing this out.

2008 Jan 20 Update:My Mom Wins!

2007 Dec 15 Update: Help make this the “Best Geeky Craft of 2007″! Visit GeekSugar and vote for the shirt. I doubt I win anything besides international fame and fortune, so I guess it’s not that important a vote.
